Getting the message out about Hepatitis C testing and support

Aug 29, 2024

Hepatitis Awareness Week Each year, Hepatitis Awareness Week runs from 22 July – 28 July, and World Hepatitis Day is on 28 July.

Our HIV and Related Programs (HARP) team were at it again for Hepatitis Awareness Week, welcoming the big HEP CURED Mobile Mural from Hepatitis NSW to Port Macquarie and Kempsey.

The HEP CURED Mobile Mural helps to get the message out that Hepatitis C can be cured. It’s a great opportunity to start conversations about viral hepatitis for the community and for health staff.

HARP staff from the Mid North Coast Liver Clinics, Harm Reduction and HARP Health Promotion teams collaborated with Hepatitis NSW and other MNCNSW LHD teams to raise awareness of hepatitis and provide the opportunity for further information, support, and testing if requested.

In just a few hours, 13 Hepatitis C tests were conducted.

The HARP team focuses on collaboration and working with internal and external partners to raise awareness of and provide support to those affected by Hepatitis C as we move ever closer to the achievable goal of Hepatitis C elimination. Thanks to everyone who stepped on for the ride!
