Child and Family Health Service host community day
Aug 16, 2023The Child and Family Health Service at Port Macquarie Community Health held a community day recently.
Members of the public, staff and children from Wauchope Preschool attended to participate in arts and craft, fun activities and singing.
There was a healthy morning tea and everyone participated in singing The Gathang Lullaby.
The Gathang Lullaby Project is an initiative that helps improve mental health for first-time Indigenous mums and newborns.
It was developed by the Mid North Coast Local Health District’s Perinatal and Infant Mental Health team, together with the Birpai community women’s group Strong Sisters movement — Djiyagan Dhanbaan and the Ngarrgan-Mirriiyn (Morning Star) choir, which sings in the Birpai language, Gathang.
