On Friday 3 May, three Mid North Coast Local Health District staff will tread the boards of a different theatre.

It’s the opening night of Players Theatre’s latest production Mother and Son.

The show runs for three weeks, including a special Mother’s Day matinee on Sunday 12 May.

Andrew Toomey plays Arthur, Kate Meredith plays Liz, and Zoe Yalouris plays Anita.

The play is an adaptation of the classic Australian Logie-winning TV show.

Port Macquarie’s Players Theatre is a volunteer-based community organisation. If you’re into comedy and supporting thespian colleagues, this could be a fun opportunity.

“We would love to see the support of our colleagues in the audience of the show,” she said.

Mother and Son explores the family relationship of Maggie, an ageing mother who is becoming more than a little forgetful, and her faithful but long-suffering middle-aged son Arthur.

Arthur moves in with Maggie when his father dies to help take care of her but must stay much longer than he planned.
