Donation drive delivers toys for those in needDec 23, 2023
Each year, the Kempsey Community Mental Health (CMH) team runs a toy drive within the department, donating the items to the Macleay Christian Outreach Service for distribution to families in need.
This year, given the rise in hardship felt by many, the team wanted to increase the number of donations, so they reached out to colleagues across the Kempsey Health Campus for assistance by holding a raffle for which raised over $400. Many more toys were purchased, adding to the already generous collection donated by staff.
The team would like to thank everyone who donated toys and purchased raffle tickets. A special mention also to community member John Unwin, who made and donated several handmade wooden toys.
All were delivered to the church on 18 December and received by pastor Jayden for distribution to children of the area in time for Christmas.
The CMH team will run the toy drive again in 2024, even bigger and better, with donations passed on to another worthy service within our community.
