Cath Lab team turns the Big Banana red for heart health
Oct 04, 2024In celebration of World Heart Day, the Cath Lab team from Coffs Harbour Health Campus partnered with the iconic Big Banana to shine a spotlight on heart health by turning the beloved landmark red. The event, held on Sunday 29 September, aimed to raise awareness about the importance of cardiovascular disease prevention.
A diverse group from the Cath Lab team, including administration staff, nurses, cardiologists, and sonographers, attended the event to show their support. As a critical care unit, they regularly witness the severe impact of heart disease but recognise that prevention is key, even if it can be challenging to emphasise in their acute care setting.
“We’re a close-knit team that genuinely cares about our community,” said Acting Nurse Unit Manager Coronary Angiography Unit, Sarah Drum.
“While much of our work focuses on treating patients during critical moments, we want to stress the importance of taking care of your heart before it’s too late.”
The Big Banana, glowing red, symbolised a powerful reminder to the public that heart health is something everyone should take seriously.
World Heart Day promotes heart-healthy living through education and awareness, encouraging communities to focus on preventative measures to reduce the risks of cardiovascular disease.
