Nurse and Carer Sheran Moore with Carer Support Coordinator Sheila May Tanchoco

Carer’s Information Day provides resources and support for staff

Aug 13, 2024

Carer Support Coordinator Sheila May Tanchoco is holding a Carer’s Information Day on the first Thursday of the month at Coffs Harbour Health Campus for patients, visitors and staff.

The day is an opportunity to find carer’s resources and information or just to find a friendly ear to listen.

This month, the event focused on supporting our staff who juggle their work alongside their caring responsibilities.

Sheran Moore, a team leader in sterilising services, exemplifies the dedication of working carers – working full time as well as being a devoted carer to her 24-year-old son Brendan.

Brendan has cerebral palsy and an intellectual disability requiring constant care and attention. He uses a wheelchair and a walker for short distances and cannot be left alone, relying on respite care while Sheran is at work.

Despite these challenges, Sheran manages her working life at Coffs Harbour Health Campus and looking after Brendan with remarkable resilience and strength.

The Carer’s Information Day aims to provide valuable resources, information and support to staff like Sheran, ensuring they are aware of the services available to them.

All staff members who are carers are invited to visit the stall on the first Thursday of each month to learn about the support and services that can help balance their professional and personal responsibilities.

Join us at the next Carer’s Information Day and discover how we can support you in your vital dual roles.

We also invite our caregiving staff to participate in the National Carer Strategy. This is a chance to help shape the path for a better future for carers.
