The NSW Government has committed $73 million to the Macksville Hospital development that will be a new facility on a new site.
Macksville’s community has a set of unique health challenges, including chronic illness and complex health needs due to its significant aged and Aboriginal population.
The project will enhance patient care while also improving ambulatory care and outpatient treatments including improved facilities in emergency, community health, operating theatres, maternity and inpatient units.
To get the best clinical outcomes for the community, the Mid North Coast Local Health District in partnership with Health Infrastructure are facilitating Project User Groups. These groups are made up of clinicians and other staff, patients, carers, as well as members of the community who provide valuable and ongoing insight into the project.
In late 2017 it was announced that the hospital will be built on a new site located 3 kilometres north of Macksville town centre.
The Macksville Hospital Development received planning approval from the NSW Department of Planning and Environment in March 2019.
