The Mid North Coast Local Health District has a long history of supporting overseas nurses and midwives to live and work with us. We are actively recruiting registered nurses and midwives specialist with experience in areas such as generalist, intensive care, emergency, obstetrics, operating suite and mental health.

NSW nurses and midwives enjoy some of the best pay and employment awards in Australia. Salary rates are determined by years of experience with increases each year up to the eighth year of experience for registered nurses and midwives and the fifth year of experience for enrolled nurses.

To be eligible for employment as a nurse or midwife in Australia you must be registered with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

AHPRA will assess overseas nursing and midwifery qualifications for eligibility for registration in Australia. Hospitals require evidence of current registration as a nurse or midwife in Australia before they make a job offer.

Overseas nurses and midwives (with the exception of those holding New Zealand passports) must also hold a visa that permits work. The Mid North Coast Local Health District can provide sponsorship to successful applicants to positions within the NSW Public Health Service. For further information on visas visit the
