Care in the Community (CiC)

Care in the Community (CiC) is delivering virtual care via telehealth to support the management and monitoring of people with acute respiratory infections, such as influenza or COVID-19, within the Mid North Coast Local Heath District.

Are you suffering from Flu-like symptoms such as:

  • fever and chills
  • cough, sore throat and runny or stuffy nose
  • muscle aches, joint pains, headaches and feeling very tired
  • nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea?

We can offer care at home via our virtual medical team. View our flyer.

Emergency Departments at all our hospitals are currently very busy with winter illnesses. If you are suffering from Cold or Flu-like illness and would like expert health advice you can call CiC on 02 6589 2515 8am to 4.30pm seven days a week.

The CiC team consists of doctors, nurses and allied health professionals who can provide the following services:

  • prompt health assessments with our clinicians
  • prescriptions
  • medical certificates
  • short-term monitoring, support and referrals.

Please note: If your symptoms are severe, please call 000 or present to your nearest Emergency Department

Care in the Community (CiC) builds on the District’s COVID Care in the Community (CCiC) model of care as a collaborative, community-based multidisciplinary service, (medical, nursing, and allied health), maximising virtual care that provides early assessment and intervention to patients within the MNCLHD at risk of presentation to hospitals.

Care in the Community is currently targeting persons presenting with acute respiratory infections (including COVID-19) who are unable to access a timely GP appointment or may require more intensive time-limited clinical intervention and monitoring.

You can refer your patient to Care in the Community for assessment if they meet the following criteria:

  • patients who are either residents of MNCLHD or are temporarily residing within the area
  • patient experiencing mild to moderate symptoms of Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI)
  • ARI may be caused by several viruses including:
    • COVID-19
    • Influenza A and B
    • Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV)
    • Parainfluenza
    • Metapneumovirus
    • Rhinoviruses
    • seasonal Coronaviruses
    • Adenovirus.

To refer your patient or client to CIC either call 02 6589 2515 between 8am to 4.30pm seven days a week or complete a CIC referral form and send to MNCLHD-CCICReferrals@health.nsw.gov.au.

Please note: If your patient has a serious medical concern call NSW Ambulance 000. Please inform them if they are COVID-19 positive.
