Alcohol and other Drugs Services (AoDs) operate across the Mid North Coast LHD, delivering a broad range of clinical services to consumers who require Drug and Alcohol support.
This service provides information, support and treatment for individuals (or their families) affected by alcohol and other problematic legal or illegal drug use issues.
- Withdrawal management.
- Counselling.
- Opioid treatment program.
- Court diversion programs.
- Specialist medical consultation.
- Hospital consultations.
- Early interventions and community engagement activities.
- Education.
AoDs is proactive in its partnerships with residential treatment and community based non-government organisations (NGOs) as well as Aboriginal Medical Services (AMS).
- Drug and alcohol counselling.
- Opioid substitution programs for the management of opioid dependence.
- Magistrates’ Early Referral into Treatment Program (MERIT), a court diversion program for those with criminal charges and illicit drug issues.
- Outpatient withdrawal management for those assessed as suitably supported to withdraw in the community.
- Consultancy and education to other agencies and health professionals.
Specialist services
To provide support and co-ordinated interventions for pregnant women with recent or current substance use issues to promote best health outcomes for mothers and babies.
Substance Use In Pregnancy and Parenting Service SUPPS clinician:
- provides supportive counselling
- referral to other specialist services as required e.g. withdrawal management services, psychologists, residential detoxification or rehabilitation services, GPs, antenatal care, child and family service support
- advocates for the promotion of non-judgemental service provision supporting best health outcomes for mothers and babies
- provision of crisis intervention as required
- maintains holistic provision of care.

The cannabis clinic provides confidential assessment, treatment and support for people concerned about their own cannabis use or that of their children or family. The clinics are staffed by qualified health professionals.

Services provided:
- assessment and counselling
- withdrawal support and referral as required
- co-consultation with mental health services as required for co-occurring mental health and alcohol and other drugs issues
- education and training provided for health professionals, teachers as well as tertiary students.
Who can use the cannabis clinic?
- any person who’s 16 years and over
- for those who wish to cease or reduce cannabis use
- for relapse prevention strategies
- for education and information regarding cannabis and related physical and mental health concerns
- for parents or relative with concerns for youth and their cannabis use
- health and welfare professionals seeking support in working with cannabis users and referral processes for residential treatments in NSW.

Outreach
Specialist Drug and Alcohol workers from Coffs Harbour also travel to Bellingen, Dorrigo, Macksville, Nambucca, Woolgoolga and to the Aboriginal Medical Services at Coffs Harbour.
The outreach programs are provided to clients who may not be have the resources to travel to Coffs Harbour or who are under the age to hold a drivers licence.

Outreach
The Alcohol and other Drugs service offer limited outreach services to Wauchope and Camden Haven for clients who may not be have the resources to travel to Port Macquarie or who are under the age to hold a drivers licence.
