In 2012/13, funding to Mid North Coast Local Health District (MNC LHD) for patient services was on the basis of meeting local needs within agreed activity targets. This funding approach known as Activity Based Funding (ABF) was applied to acute inpatients, emergency departments and non-admitted services. The first year of the reforms focused on the development and implementation of the funding model.
2016/17 marks the fifth year of implementation of funding reform in NSW.
Other services including teaching, training and research and population health activities, will continue to be funded through block grants as deemed appropriate. It is important to note that where a service or facility is not funded under ABF, it receives revenue through other funding sources including block funding arrangements and other government funding pools.
